Vermont has just become the 7th state to go sweat shop free with clothing and other products, a good step in the right direction for the organic baby clothing industry (among others). Governer Jim Douglas signed the sweatshop-free purchasing program into law at Brattleboro Union High School last week thanks to the Child Labor Education and Action (CLEA) committee who initially started the campaign in an effort to make the state go sweatshop free.
So Vermont now joins the ranks of other states that provide sweatshop free clothing including; New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maine, New Jersey, and California. Also, if you include cities that have adopted sweat-shop free policies, there are about 180 in total across the country.
