Obamas Grow Their Own Organic Garden, Big Industry Cries “No”

April 2nd, 2009 by

So here’s a funny tidbit of information I found, reading the morning news. You may have already heard that the Obamas have started an organic garden at the white house and would like to grow enough food to use a good bit of it in their meals. Which all around I think is a great sign that the new administration will support our industry as a whole.

The funny part is the Mid America Croplife Association, a large association responsible for “protecting crops and water from pests”, actually wrote to the Obamas and asked them to think about managing the garden “conventionally”!  That makes me think they don’t want the Obamas to influence regular Americans to think organic products are better, and they probably don’t want us to grow our own gardens at home.  Now that would cut into the price gouging and soaring costs of food.

Next thing you know we might start being practical and saving money and living healthy lives. Bad consumer, bad!
