Some Common Baby Shower Games
July 19th, 2010
Baby shower games make a mom-to-be’s special day more fun, and they create lots of laughs and warm memories as well. There are a number of games that are traditionally played at baby showers, and they are called baby bottles, looking to match baby pictures with adults attending the shower, baby bingo, guessing how big the pregnant mom’s belly is, and dirty diapers. Each of these different games will be discussed in detail below.
To begin, the baby bottles game is an old favorite. It is especially fun when the shower includes males and females. Bottles are filled with milk and assorted beverages, and whoever finishes drinking first gets a prize. This game is a wonderful ice-breaker, and it can lead to many laughs. Beverages typically used are sodas, milk, and juice. Alcohol is not the best idea given that the mom-to-be would not be able to participate.
Matching baby pictures with adults attending the get-together is another game popularly played at baby showers. The shower organizer would need to ask those attending to send her a baby picture in advance of the event. Then, at the party, guests can try to match the baby pictures with their peers attending the shower. Whoever gets the most correct matches wins a prize.
Baby bingo is an all-time favorite at events for the mom-to-be. This game involves passing out bingo cards to attendees. A person leading it will call out the names of different baby gifts (for example, bottles, diapers, etc.) The guests need to circle the gifts as the bingo session goes along. Whoever gets a diagonal or straight line of circles wins. There are typically multiple winners for baby bingo games.
Guessing the size of the pregnant mom’s belly is also played quite often at baby showers. Guests will take string or toilet paper and wrap it around the mom’s baby bump. They will compare the actual length of the string or paper to their estimated guess. Whoever is closest to the real figure wins.
As unpleasant as it sounds, dirty diapers is actually another fun game to play at baby events. Real diapers are filled with popular chocolate bars. The guests have to figure out what kind of chocolate is in the diaper. If two or more people guess the right chocolate, they can all get prizes or they can then be asked to taste different baby foods and guess the flavors to break the tie.
Many more games for baby showers can be found on the Internet, in baby magazines, and through word of mouth. New games can be made up as well. Craft stores tend to carry all of the supplies needed for these fun activities, as do a number of online shops.
In conclusion, games make baby showers more fun and memorable. There are many that have been played for years, and they include baby bottles, looking to match baby pictures with adults attending the shower, baby bingo, guessing how big the pregnant mom’s belly is, and dirty diapers. Countless more can be found online, through word of mouth, and in parenting magazines. The Internet and craft shops are great sources of the supplies needed for the games.
