The Best Baby Shower Items are Organic Baby Gifts and Clothing

October 30th, 2009

Are you someone who has been invited to a baby shower, but are uncertain of what you can bring that would benefit both the baby and the mom? Well, something that you can consider are organic baby gifts and clothing that would not only help to make sure that the newborn is staying away from harmful chemicals and pesticides, but would also help to benefit the environment. This is something that will both provide a stable life for the baby, but can help to lessen the new mom’s worry about the potential chemicals and pesticides that they are introducing their babies to on a regular basis.

In today’s society it is almost impossible to remove all problems from your baby’s health, but the truth is that you can still do your part to make sure that they are at least free from the worry of unnecessary chemical contaminants in their clothing and other important baby items. For example, did you know that many of the fivers that are used in traditional baby clothes have been chemically treated and may contain pesticides? By buying organic baby clothing you are making sure that they newborn is swaddled in nothing less than the best fibers that have been harvested from a field were no pesticides were used, and they have not been chemically treated. In fact, organic dyes are even used to make sure that the newborn is surrounded by completely natural elements.

In addition to clothing, there are also several different organic baby gifts that you can take with you to the new mother’s shower. This way you can make sure that multiple areas of the baby’s life are preserved through the use of completely organic materials. For example, many baby teething rings are made from plastics, but there are some organic versions that are made from either cotton or cornstarch. These items are far less processed and can therefore provide you with a great deal of comfort. It is not often that we take the time to consider the harmful side effects of something as innocuous as a teething ring or an onesie, but just think of how many chemicals you can remove from the baby’s life by providing them with organic gifts and clothing.

Getting the Best Organic Baby Clothing and Gifts

October 30th, 2009

As any new parent knows, your baby is the most important thing in your life. As such, you will want to make sure that you take care of them and provide them with the most stylish clothing and toys, but chances are that you are also going to want to make sure that these are quality organic items. For example, by choosing to use organic baby clothing you are working to make sure that your child’s skin is left free from contact with many of the additives in other clothing articles that can cause skin irritation.

Organic baby clothing is assembled from cloth that has been harvested without many of the pollutants and chemical treatments that many of today’s clothing often include. This is not something that we want to put near our children, and understanding this there have been large improvements to the availability of organic baby clothes that are on the market today. This way you can be sure that you are doing everything possible to help your child grow up without worry about skin problems, and possibly even reducing their risk for cancer in later years. Not to mention the fact that relying on organic materials is also an important way to make sure that you are supporting your environment because they are often processed with as minimal environmental impact as possible.

If you are not someone who has a baby yet, but are considering purchasing a gift for a newborn in your family, then why not consider organic baby gifts? These gifts range from teething rings to organic dishes. In fact, there are organic gifts that you can consider for almost every child from the age of an infant, up until they are old enough to start exercising with yoga. Not to mention the fact that there are many organic products on the market that will help with your baby’s skin like bath wash and balm for their bottoms. By relying on these organic products you are making sure that you are doing everything possible to protect the health of your baby and the environment.

Buying Organic Designer Baby Clothing

October 21st, 2009

Many new parents want their babies to look chic.  While it might sound somewhat crazy to other parents, buying designer baby clothing can actually be very important to many people.  They want their children to look great, even if the babies don’t really understand fashion or what they’re wearing.  If you’re invited to a baby shower for one of these parents or if you want your baby to look amazing, you may find yourself shopping at some designer clothing stores aimed specifically at baby wear.

However, other parents want to only dress their babies in organic clothing.  This helps protect them from allergens, chemicals, and other harsh things.  These organic clothes can keep your children healthy and protect them from a number of illnesses as they grow up, plus they’re ecologically friendly as well.  But while these organic clothes will keep your baby healthy, can they also look like designer outfits?

The answer is yes, there are organic designer baby clothes out there.  For example, there’s a corduroy hooded jacket that will make any baby look chic and stylish.  This jacket is completely organic, containing no chemicals at all.  Yet it is still just as great looking as many of the different designer jackets out there.  In fact, some people won’t be able to tell the difference at all.  For those who are into doing yoga with their babies, there are many different designer yoga outfits for babies and young children.  These organic outfits look very much like designer clothes, and they will make your baby the envy of all others in your parent and baby yoga class.

Buying Organic Baby Gifts

October 13th, 2009

Are you going to be attending a baby shower any time soon?  If so, you may be wondering exactly what to get as a gift.  These days, new parents are often very particular about what type of baby blankets, clothing, and even toys they give to their children.  Many do not want to have their babies exposed to anything chemical, and so they want only organic baby gifts for their baby showers.  If this is the case, you will want to start shopping early so you can find the perfect organic baby gift for your friends or relatives.

There are many different options for your organic baby gifts.  Many people purchase organic baby outfits, but a lot of people give clothing as a gift.  To go with something a little different, you may want to purchase an organic thermal blanket.  These thick blankets will keep the baby warm at night and give them a chance to sleep without fear of them absorbing any chemicals or having any allergic reactions to the dyes in the blanket.

Another option is to purchase an earth friendly plate.  These plates may not come in handy right away, but eventually, babies will need plates to hold their cereals and other foods.  Earth friendly plates are made without any lead, BPA, phthalates, or any sort of toxic inks.  There are many different designs, colors, and patterns for these earth friendly plates, too, so you can find a design that works for you.  Cornstarch products are also available.  These bowls, plates, and utensils will eventually biodegrade and can be composted.  However, they can be used multiple times before this occurs, and they’re completely eco-friendly.

Baby Yoga and You

October 1st, 2009

Many people who do yoga have discovered that it truly does make their bodies more fit, makes them more flexible, and has helped them keep in shape and be healthier.  But when people hear about yoga for babies, some are skeptical.  Why do babies need to do yoga?  Aren’t they already incredibly flexible?  And babies don’t need to become more fit or work on their weight.  However, many parents have discovered that doing some of the various yoga for babies programs is actually a great way of bonding with their child.  There’s something about going through the various yoga poses designed for both parent and child to do together that makes them become closer.

Of course, as babies grow up, continuing to do yoga with their parents is a very good way for them to build up muscles and keep their flexibility.  It can even lead the way for them to continue yoga as children, teens, and young adults.  These age groups are often at risk for becoming obese and inactive, so if you can get your children interested in yoga and get them into a yoga routine early, you’ll help them stay health their entire lives.

As with any activity, there are a number of different accessories and items you can purchase for your baby related to baby yoga.  You’ll find several different DVD programs out there that will guide you and your baby through the various positions and yoga activities.  Then there are different baby yoga clothing for your child to wear that are both comfortable and stretchy.  Finally, every baby yoga exerciser will need his or her own yoga mat, and you’ll find these in a number of bright designs.

Don’t Forget the Organic Baby Jacket

September 28th, 2009

When it comes to purchasing organic items for babies, many people start with the mattress, sheets, and blankets.  Since many allergies come from the crib, it’s very important that babies sleep on hypoallergenic sheets and have mattresses that do not contain harmful flame retardants and other chemicals.  However, after getting a good night’s sleep, what happens to many babies?  They’re dressed in clothing made from traditional, artificial fibers, so they immediately get exposed to dust, dyes, and all those chemicals that organic sheets and such don’t have, which kind of defeats the purpose of the organic bedding.

But wait, many people purchase organic outfits for their babies.  These little onesies and other outfits are made out of the same organic cottons and other materials as the sheets and blankets are, so the baby isn’t exposed to any chemicals.  However, many parents forget to purchase organic baby jackets.  That’s because jackets and other outerwear is often not stocked in stores, or if it is, only a few options are available.  Fortunately, organic baby jackets are available in many places, and you can find jackets, hats, and even boots made out of organic materials if you search for them.  A lot of times, the stores will even special order these organic items if you ask for them.

Is it really that important that your baby have everything made out of organic materials?  If you want them to avoid the many allergic reactions that humans have to various chemicals and dyes, then yes.  While it’s true that most babies don’t wear their jackets that much, still, it’s a period of time when they’re exposed to chemicals if the jacket isn’t organic.  As a parent, it’s your decision how much to go organic, but if you really want your baby growing up free from exposure to chemicals used in fabrics, organic jackets are a necessity.

Unique Organic Baby Shower Ideas

September 24th, 2009

Buying items for a baby shower can sometimes be a difficult chore.  You want to find some unique baby shower gifts that you know the mom-to-be won’t get.  Everyone seems to give her diapers, formula, little outfits, blankets…but what’s something different that you know she won’t always get?  One answer to that is organic baby items. While many expecting parents don’t think to ask for organic items specifically, many are very grateful to get them.  This is because buying organic items for a baby is much safer and can help the baby avoid dust and other germs.

Organic baby shower gifts are guarantees to be free from all the harsh and potentially dangerous chemicals that are often used in traditional gifts.  They are also hypoallergenic, meaning that they do not hold in dust.  Many teethers and other items use cornstarch based plastic in them, which is free of lead and other harmful ingredients.  These items are also biodegradable and can be added to your compost heap when your baby is no longer in need of them (although because of this, they can’t go in the dishwasher).

If you’re looking for organic powders and balms, you’ll find you have a number of options.  These balms are made from various herbs and other natural items that have been scientifically shown to help heal up irritated skin and even moisturize while at the same time protecting the baby’s skin.  There are even some organic balms designed for mommy, such as the belly balm that will help prevent stretch marks and erase any scarring that may occur from being pregnant.

Why should you Buy Organic Baby Bedding?

September 10th, 2009

Everyone seems to want to buy organic these days, but is there any reason to really go about buying organic baby bedding?  In some cases, it may be more expensive, and it doesn’t really seem to be any different from other types of baby bedding.  However, that’s just on the surface.  If you dive into the details of organic baby bedding, you’d see that there is certainly a purpose to it.

There are several different items needed in your baby bed, and all of them are available in organic forms.  Organic baby bedding includes sheets, mattress pads, crib bumpers, blankets, and pillow cases.  All of these items are made from purely organic materials, even the ones that have been dyed different colors or feature patterns on them.  Organic baby bedding is all hypo-allergenic, meaning it won’t hold in dust or other particles that can give your baby difficulty breathing.

In fact, that’s the entire reason of outfitting your baby bed in organic sheets and the like.  Standard bedding uses dyes and other materials that both hold in dirt and dust and can trigger allergies.  These allergies can make it difficult for your baby to get a good night’s sleep.  While purchasing organic baby bedding is a good idea, especially if your baby doesn’t seem to sleep well, there is one thing you need to remember.  Buying just one part of the organic baby bedding set, such as an organic blanket, won’t be as effective as replacing your entire baby bedding with organic bedding.

Using Organic Baby Mattresses

August 28th, 2009

When it comes to sleeping, many people do not expect their babies to sleep through the night.  It’s just a part of being a baby, they believe.  However, that’s not entirely true.  Have you ever found yourself awake at night because you’re coughing or having other breathing issues?  If so, you may be allergic to something in your mattress.  The same can be true for babies—some are allergic to materials found inside their baby bed’s mattress.  To combat this, you may wish to outfit your baby bed or crib with an organic baby mattress.

Organic baby mattresses are made from all natural, all organic ingredients.  This means there’s nothing there that will cause your baby to have an allergic reaction to the mattress.  Even if it looks like a dye was used, that dye will have been made using organic materials.  Most of these organic baby mattresses are made out of cotton.  This makes the mattress nice and plush in addition to making it hypoallergenic.  Many of these organic baby mattresses are also flame retardant and water proof, making them even more useful and safe for your child.  However, they do not use harmful flame retardants, so there’s no fear of chemicals damaging your baby.

One of the great things about organic baby mattresses is that they aren’t really that much more expensive than standard baby mattresses.  Likewise, since green products are becoming more and more popular, you can now find organic baby mattresses in more furniture and department stores.  In the past, this wasn’t true, but now it is much easier to outfit your baby’s bed with an organic mattress.

Buying Baby Bedding

August 20th, 2009

There are so many options for expecting parents as to what type of baby bedding to buy.  You can easily spend a little of a lot, go for simple or go for luxury.  A lot of new or expecting mommies and daddies could certainly use a few pointers to help with picking out the baby’s cozy new bedding.  In that light here you go:

1. Buy Extra Sheets

During their first year newborn babies can create many messes and it is always prudent to be prepared to deal with them as they happen.  One of the best ways to be prepared is to have anywhere from 1 to 4 extra sheets ready to go when messes occur, and they well.

2. Make Sure Everything Fits

Although most baby bedding is made to a standardized crib size it is still a good idea to go ahead and make sure that everything fits before the baby is born, this will give you time to make any changes if necessary.  You really want to aim for a snug fit from the crib bedding to the mattress for the most safety conscience setting.  Once you have a good snug fit then go ahead and wash all the bedding both for hygiene and also that washing will help make the materials soft for your child’s comfort.  Remember that baby’s skin is much more sensitive then ours.

3. Planning for the Future

Here are some thoughts on budgeting.  There are many purchases that you can really skimp on when baby planning and others that it is wise to invest a little more.  Baby bedding falls into the later category.  Most standard sized baby bedding will seamlessly transfer from cribs to toddler beds, this means you really can get much more use out of it then just the infant stage.
